Electronic Stability Control (ESC)

ESC integrates a full suite of safety features including Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD), Electronic Brake Assist (EBA) and Traction Control System (TCS).

Exclusively calibrated for HSVs, ESC monitors steering wheel angle and speed to make turning and cornering safer. If loss of traction occurs, ESC activates to apply brake pressure to individual wheels and, if necessary, reduces engine power.

Anti-lock Braking System (ABS)

ABS reduces wheel lock under heavy braking situations by momentarily releasing brake pressure at the wheels required. This improves stopping distances on most surfaces, improves braking efficiency and enables better steering in demanding braking conditions.

Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD)

EBD regulates brake force to ensure an ideal distribution of brake torque between front and rear brakes, thereby minimising stopping distance.

Electronic Brake Assist (EBA)

In emergency braking situations, few people apply the required pressure to the brake pedal. EBA activates to maximise brake pressure performance.

HSV DataDot DNA Platinum

Each new HSV vehicle is fitted with the DataDot DNA Platinum Theft Deterrent System (TDS) which provides our owners with the peace of mind that their prized possession has an even higher level of protection. In the unlikely event of theft, HSV Owners will enjoy the additional benefit of the DataDot TDS Warranty.

The DataDot DNA Platinum TDS includes thousands of DataDots, marked with each vehicle’s unique Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and sprayed in covert locations on the body and key component parts of the car. With VIN information managed by Government road and traffic authorities, the DataDots are a permanent fixture throughout the vehicle providing irrefutable proof of ownership.

The DataDot DNA Platinum TDS works because professional thieves are generally interested in the profitability of stripping stolen vehicles for spare parts and scrap metal, or changing the identity of the vehicle for ‘re-birthing’. Where simple investigation can provide reliable identification of ownership, the vehicle is of little value on the illegal market. Location of DataDots on stolen vehicle parts has contributed to the successful prosecution of criminals. Therefore the DataDot DNA Platinum TDS is the ultimate deterrent to professional thieves.

Daytime Running Lamps

The combination of projector head lamps and dual function Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs) on all HSVs create remarkable visibility, both during the day and at night. They also make it easier for oncoming drivers to judge your distance and speed.

Traction Control System (TCS)

For maximum grip in wet and icy conditions, TCS activates to reduce slippage by adjusting drive and brake force, greatly reducing wheel spin.

Forward Collision Alert

A camera, located above the rear view mirror, scans the road ahead up to 14 times per second. When a crash is predicted, the driver is alerted with an audible tone and a visual alert in the Head-Up Display. Anticipating hard braking, the system applies sufficient brake pressure to close the space between the brake pads and rotors, thus delivering a quicker brake response time.

Lane Departure Warning (where fitted)

Designed to help combat driver fatigue and/or distraction, a warning indicator and audible sound will alert the driver to any unintentional lane departures.


In the event of an accident, an HSV protects all of its occupants with six airbags ready to deploy in the blink of an eye, including dual-stage airbags for driver and front passenger, side impact airbags for driver and front passenger plus side curtain airbags.

Child Restraints/Emergency Mode

For the youngest HSV enthusiasts, there are three rear-seat child restraint anchor points, while the driver and front passenger are embraced by lap/sash seat belts with load limiters, pyrotechnic pre-tensioners and height adjust. If the pre-tensioners are triggered by an impact, the on-board computer instinctively initiates Emergency Mode, turning the engine and fuel pump off. It also unlocks doors and turns hazard and interior lamps on (if battery power is available).
