The Toll Holden Racing Team’s tour across the Top End has been especially rewarding for one Malouf’s Mt Isa HSV customer.

The HRT and Walkinshaw Racing transporters spent the break between the Darwin and Townsville rounds of the V8 Supercar Championship traversing the Northern Territory, Western and Far North Queensland, including an extended stop at Mount Isa to visit one of HSV’s newest dealerships.

More than 2000 fans – or around 10% of the local population – gave the team a warm welcome including one customer who was picking up his Red-Hot GTS from servicing, which included a replacement rear windscreen that had been inadvertently damaged due to local road repairs in the area.

Manager of the Malouf Motor Group, Paul Malouf, takes up the story.

“Alarm bells rang when he told us of an upcoming trip away on the Wednesday, having only had the problem on the Monday afternoon.

“With no screen in stock at our dealership or the HSV dealership at Townsville, we were left with a serious dilemma, and potentially with a very unhappy customer.

Enter the Toll Holden Racing Team’s Grant Milne, aka ‘Hollywood’, and Walkinshaw Racing’s Joe Sullivan – the transport drivers. Hollywood had overheard the dealership talking to the customer about his rear windscreen problem and promptly offered a replacement windscreen – from a Toll Holden Racing Team VE Commodore!

The outcome? A very satisfied dealership and customer, providing further proof of the ‘Race Relations’ connection between Australia’s favourite luxury and performance car company and the Toll Holden Racing Team.

“It’s a remarkable story,” Paul Malouf said.

“Not many car companies would have been able to deliver such a high quality of customer service.”

As for the replacement windscreen, it was delivered to Hollywood and Joe a week later in Townsville.
