Holden Special Vehicles (HSV) is set to take on Bathurst in a big way in 2007 with a convoy of five white commemorative HSV ClubSport R8s descending on the town next week.

Specially designed 20th Anniversary livery has been commissioned by HSV for the all conquering E series Clubsport R8s.

Destined to make quite a sight on the 800km trip from Melbourne to Bathurst and on the mountain over the Supercheap Bathurst 1000 weekend, the ClubSport R8s will also be a part of the V8 drivers parade prior to the great race, as well as participating in CAMS ‘hot lap’ events.

The cars will then be driven across to Sydney for the Australian International Motorshow which begins on October 11. It was 20 years ago that Tom Walkinshaw and John Crennan unveiled the very first Holden Special Vehicle, which became known as the “Walkinshaw”, at Sydney's Motorshow in 1987.

On the track, Holden Special Vehicles approaches the Bathurst weekend with what is believed to be a first in Australian Motorsport – three HSV driver ambassadors leading their respective championships.

The Toll HSV Dealer Team’s Rick Kelly enjoys a narrow lead over co-driver Garth Tander in the V8 Supercar Championship and David Reynolds – who will drive for the Supercheap Auto Racing Team at Bathurst – is leading the Carrera Cup competition into the penultimate round next weekend.

Finally, Leanne Tander leads the 'open wheeler' Formula 3 Championship, which has just one round to go. She has also been nominated, along with the Holden Racing Team’s Mark Skaife, for the 2007 CAMS Motor Sport Personality of the Year award.

All HSV driver ambassadors can be guaranteed strong support from the large HSV and Holden contingent who traditionally descend on Bathurst.
