HSV announces “Dealer Team Spec” option .

It can now be revealed that the HSV Targa Tasmania lead car was actually the final test bed for a new hard edged option package for HSV buyers. HSV Engineers used the ClubSport R8 Targa car to evaluate the real world dynamic performance of the new HSV “Dealer Team Spec” option package.

The “Dealer Team Spec” package will soon be available as an option on six-speed manual transmission versions of the 6.0 litre V8 ClubSport, ClubSport R8, GTO Coupé, Maloo and Maloo R8 models.

Aimed at enthusiasts who enjoy a tightly focused, high performance driving experience in its purest form, the “HSV Dealer Team Spec” brings a selection of sought after, high-calibre HSV enhancements combined in one package. Several of these features were previously either not available on standard production or could only be selected on certain models.

The “HSV Dealer Team Spec” stage 1 option includes:

- HSV Modified Performance Suspension – a handling focused suspension tuned for the specified Pirelli Corsa semi competition tyres; - HSV Leather Short Shifter – for the M12 Tremec six speed gearbox; - HSV Linear Steering Rack – HSV developed, its linear ratio delivers a sharper ‘on-centre’ steering response, as well as greater predictability and accuracy as the steering is moved from ‘lock to lock’; - HSV Power Steering Cooler – maintains oil temperature within limits and, importantly, provides the exact amount of backpressure needed to deliver precise steering feel and feedback; - HSV Six-Piston Brake System – developed in conjunction with AP Racing in the UK, this powerful system features six-piston front calipers acting on huge 362mm cross-drilled and grooved rotors with four piston calipers and 343mm cross-drilled and grooved rotors at the rear. This is the mostvpowerful braking system ever fitted to an Australian road car; - Lightweight OZ Racing Wheels (18 inch Black) – The ‘Crono Le Mans’ wheel is designed to minimise weight, while maintaining strength through a titanium enriched alloy construction. The production process for this wheel incorporates heat treatment plus a special shot peening technology. The wheel weight is only 8.2kg therefore offering an unsprung weight saving of over 20kg per vehicle over the standard wheel package; - Pirelli P-Zero Corsa Asimmetrico tyres 235/40ZR18 – This semi competition tyre is original equipment on such high performance cars as the Ferrari 360 Challenge and Porsche GT3. It has been chosen for its excellent lateral stability and contribution to steering response. Customers may also purchase separately the regular Pirelli 19” tyre combination for the ultimate choice of rubber for each occasion.

Apart from the stunning OZ alloy wheels, visual cues are limited to special badges on the boot lid and the dashboard and the HSV unique fender vents which now incorporate matt black strakes to match the wheels. The HSV unique build plate will also reflect the fact that the vehicle is fitted with the “Dealer Team Spec” option, and is therefore limited edition.

“Dealer Team Spec” customers may also choose the Stage 2 specification, which includes HSV Ohlins Adjustable Performance Suspension (with adjustable remote-canister gas pressurised damping units, front and rear), HSV Tyre Pressure Monitoring system and the amazing functionality of the HSV Driver Dynamic Interface (DDI) system which recently was released on the limited edition SV6000. (The Ohlins suspension is not available on Maloo models).

The “Dealer Team Spec” is tuned for the ultimate HSV handling experience. The combination of a lower unsprung weight, super adhesive tyres, steering enhancements and powerful brakes makes for a very special drivers car.

The “Dealer Team Spec” option will be available from July. Final pricing will be confirmed closer to the start of production availability.
