HSV Dealer Team stars gear up for Great Australian Run

The HSV Dealer Team pair of Rick Kelly and Paul Dumbrell will be swapping their helmets for running shoes at the end of November when they compete in the HBA Great Australian Run in Melbourne.

In just a few weeks thousands of runners, joggers and walkers will toe the start line ready to set off on their 15km journey for the inaugural run.

Kelly and Dumbrell will be among a plethora of stars to be competing in the fun run including the world’s greatest distance runner Haile Gebrselassie, reigning world marathon champion Luke Kibet, Beijing Olympic champion Constantina Dita-Tomescu, Austrian steeplechase record holder Guenther Weidlinger and Australia’s own Benita Johnson and HSV Ambassador Craig Mottram.

It seems that the once in a life time opportunity to run with the world’s best athletes and thousands of pavement pounders has brought out the runner in a few well known sports stars and celebrities.

The challenge was laid down and Kelly and Dumbrell will be pitched against a number of other sporting relay teams including the AFL stars of Trent Cotchin (RIchmond), Bryce Gibbs (Carlton) and Jobe Watson (Essendon). And it’s not just the AFL players laying down the challenge with jockeys Steve Baster, Brad Rawiller and Chris Symons in the starting barriers for the teams event, which requires each team member to run 5km as part of a relay.

And while not technically a sports star, it would remiss of us not to mention Australia’s reigning king of Australian Comedy, with the most recognisable voice in the entertainment industry – Dave Hughes who is also set to have some fun alongside Kelly and Dumbrell in the run on November 30!

Not only do Kelly and Dumbrell have football stars, jockeys and Dave Hughes to compete with, HSV Ambassador Craig Mottram has also put in a challenge to the two V8 drivers – a showdown on their home turf at Albert Park.

Look out for the all new HSV ClubSport R8 Tourer around the 15km course, acting as the pace car for the women’s event.
