HSV has made a number of key styling improvements to the E3 range, most notably to the interior where the new touchscreen, which houses the radio, satellite navigation, reversing camera and EDI system, marks the biggest change.

The new screen moves higher in the centre console, resulting in a significant re-design. A stainless steel machined nameplate sits just below the touchscreen in the centre console and is specific to each model in the E3 range.

A premium piano black trim surrounds the touchscreen, as well as the air-conditioning controls, the gear lever and switchgear located near the gear lever and on the steering wheel.

The surround of the instrument cluster behind the steering wheel has been re-designed to carry over the ‘shockwave’ design treatment found elsewhere on the car.

A new instrument binnacle encases the gauges atop the centre console, while new microsilver appliqués are splashed across the width of the dashboard and on the steering wheel spokes – the GTS features a race-inspired carbon fibre look.

A new premium leather colour, Turismo Rosso, is presented in a two-tone design, while contrast stitching (silver on Black Onyx, and black on Turismo Rosso and Light Urban) now adds to the presentation of HSV’s already impressive seats.

HSV’s Chief of Styling, Julian Quincey, believes the interior tweaks give the HSV range a more upmarket feel. “The new interiors have a more premium and stylish look to them,” he said. “The new touchscreen is obviously an upmarket feature, but it also looks great in the centre console.

“The new materials such as the piano black trim, the stainless steel nameplate and the new appliqués all contribute to re-invigorate the cabin – they are simply higher quality materials.”

External changes were kept to a minimum, with a new rear spoiler (on ClubSport R8 and GTS) and bigger exhaust tips (on all models except for Maloo R8 and ClubSport R8 Tourer) refining the rear styling package.

The new rear spoiler features re-designed supports, which carry over the ‘shockwave’ styling theme found in the design of the exhaust tips.

The spoiler itself is smoother and slightly lower than previously, providing better rear visibility and less aerodynamic drag.

Four new colours round out the styling changes. They are Hazard Yellow, Alto Grey, Sizzle (a dark red colour) and Mirage Glow (a soft gold colour).
